Billing Manager / Supervisor

Job Description:

Job Type: Full-Time

Experience Level: Senior (5+ years preferred)

Reports To: Practice Administrator / Physician Partner

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Billing Manager / Revenue Cycle Supervisor to lead a high-volume billing team. The ideal candidate combines leadership expertise in medical billing operations with strong hands-on eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience and certified coding knowledge to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal reimbursement.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the entire revenue cycle from coding and charge entry through payment posting, denials, and follow-up.
Supervise and support a multidisciplinary billing team, including certified coders, billers, posters, AR specialists, and follow-up staff.
Ensure accuracy of CPT/ICD-10 coding, modifier usage, and documentation compliance according to payer policies.
Monitor key performance indicators (Days in AR, Denial Rate, Clean Claim Rate, Collection Percentage) and generate actionable reports.
Manage payer audits, appeals, and compliance reviews; provide corrective feedback to providers and staff.
Conduct regular coding and billing audits to maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations.
Develop and deliver staff education and training on billing updates, compliance requirements, and workflow optimization.
Lead weekly revenue cycle meetings to review outstanding claims, denial trends, and payer-specific issues.
Collaborate closely with physicians, administration, and IT to streamline billing operations and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Accounting, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 5 years of progressive medical billing experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required; other recognized coding certifications (e.g., CPB, COC) will be considered.
Proficiency in eClinicalWorks (eCW) and familiarity with clearinghouse workflows.
In-depth understanding of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and payer-specific billing rules.
Demonstrated success in reducing denials, improving AR performance, and ensuring coding accuracy.
Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills with an ability to guide teams toward measurable outcomes.
Knowledge of HIPAA, OIG, and CMS compliance regulations related to billing and coding.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with urology or surgical specialty billing.
Knowledge of Medicare Advantage and commercial payer requirements.
Familiarity with audit preparation, payer contract interpretation, and revenue integrity analysis.
